Tournament Results

At the beginning of the week, twelve of the world’s best Dota 2 teams competed across the three-day Group Stage for one of the eight spots in the Playoffs. Group Stage results saw Team Falcons, BetBoom, PARIVISION and AVULUS clinching upper bracket positions for the Playoffs with PARIVISION emerging as the standout, finishing with an impressive 9-1 record. On the other hand, BOOM Esports, NAVI, Gaozu and M80 bid an early farewell to the tournament.

The ESL One Bangkok Playoffs saw BetBoom and PARIVISION secure their places in the upper bracket finals with commanding victories. However,  it was PARIVISION who cemented their dominance with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over BetBoom, claiming the first grand finals slot.

However, it was Team Liquid that stole the spotlight in the lower bracket, surging back after a shaky start. Liquid eliminated Shopify Rebellion in a clean 2-0 sweep and faced off Team Falcons in a thrilling marathon lower bracket quarterfinal. Despite dropping the first game in a grueling 69-minute battle, Liquid roared back in the next two games with their high-tempo line-up and explosive initiations.  The reigning TI champions took the series 2-1 by the skin of their teeth in a 77-minute epic, packed with chaotic teamfights, culminating in a thrilling base race that had the crowd on their feet.

In the lower bracket semifinals, Liquid’s momentum continued as they dispatched Team Spirit in a commanding 2-1 sweep, setting up a Sunday showdown with BetBoom. The two teams went head-to-head in an action-packed lower bracket finals with Team Liquid taking down BetBoom 2-1 in an incredible series.

Grand Final

A sold-out crowd bore witness to the epic best of five Grand Final between career underdogs, PARIVISION, and tournament underdogs, Team Liquid. Despite Team Liquid winning the first game, it was PARIVISION who continued their dominant streak and closed off the Final with a 3-1 win. This is a monumental win for PARIVISION, making ESL One Bangkok, the first championship win for the organisation.

“Bringing a tournament as storied as ESL One to a new country is a challenging task, which requires meticulous planning and preparation . What we’ve seen this weekend in Bangkok is a response that exceeded our expectations – and has proven the passion Thai fans have for world-class Dota 2,” said Tobias Fjellander, Product Manager Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group. “The energy from the sold-out crowd has been nothing short of incredible, with the lower bracket quarterfinal match between Team Falcons and Team Liquid going down as one for the history books. We’d like to congratulate PARIVISION on their win, and thank the Thai crowd for being part of a new chapter in the legacy of ESL One.”

“I really like the crowd in Thailand. I enjoyed it, and that’s why I want to keep playing LAN tournaments. I think in Thailand people are very kind and open to you and I really like it,” shared Andrey “Dukalis” Kuropatkin, Captain of PARIVISION.

“It’s been incredible to play here, it’s been so cool. Anytime you do anything in the game, the whole ground starts shaking. It’s been really intense, and I’m really happy we won this tournament,” added Remco “Crystallis” Arets.
