Thailand’s biggest Dota 2 tournament starts next week, featuring 12 of the world’s best teams, and a prize pool of $1,000,000
Bangkok, Tuesday December 3, 2024 – ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), the leading esports and video game entertainment company, today announced additional details related to ESL One Bangkok 2024 powered by Intel® – a USD $1,000,000 Dota 2 tournament that will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, across December 9-15. Featuring twelve of the world’s best Dota 2 teams, this year marks the first time the global Dota 2 tournament has been hosted in Thailand.
Starting on December 9, the Group Stage of ESL One Bangkok 2024 powered by Intel® will commence, as two groups of six teams compete in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the upper bracket of Playoffs, whilst the 3rd and 4th place teams from each group will proceed to the lower bracket of the Playoffs stage, with the remaining teams eliminated from the tournament. From December 13, the 8-team Playoffs will be played out live in Royal Paragon Hall, with teams competing in a double elimination bracket. A best-of-five Grand Final starting at 4:00pm UTC+7, Sunday, December 15 will crown the overall champion of ESL One Bangkok 2024 powered by Intel®.

Up for grabs at ESL One Bangkok is a total prizepool of $1,000,000 (USD), split amongst the twelve competing teams. In addition, 19,980 ESL Pro Tour points will be distributed based on Group Stage & Playoffs results, helping teams secure a higher position in the ESL Pro Tour rankings.

“After an incredibly strong response from Dota 2 fans in Thailand and across the region, we’re ready to welcome a massive crowd to Royal Paragon Hall this December 13-15.” said Tobias Fjellander, Product Manager Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group. “We can’t wait for fans to see the show we’ve got in store for them next weekend, featuring not only the best Dota 2 teams in the world, but a full event experience with additional content including Cosplay, expo booths, and fan activities running throughout the three days.”
In addition to the tournament, a number of other activities will be running across the weekend in Royal Paragon Hall, including a Dota 2 Cosplay Showcase, taking place on Saturday the 14th of December. During the showcase, fans can expect real Dota heroes to light up the arena with their performances. Throughout the rest of the weekend, cosplayers will be present around the event and available for photos.

Also debuting at ESL One Bangkok is DHL’s Tales from the Lore Keeper – an animated series that dives into the incredible world of Dota 2 lore, hosted by popular Dota 2 community figure SirActionSlacks. Existing viewers of SirActionSlacks’ popular ‘Loregasm’ YouTube series will be greeted with a familiar format, made possible by DHL, with each episode of DHL’s new series taking viewers on a hilarious and insightful journey through the history, myths, and tales of the Dota 2 universe, focusing on a single character picked by fans.
