- ESL One powered by Intel® returns to Birmingham for the first time since 2019, as 12 of the world’s best Dota 2 teams battle it out from April 22 – 28 for a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool and the all-valuable ESL Pro Tour (EPT) Points to bolster ambitions of securing a spot at Riyadh Masters at Esports World Cup later this year.
- The playoffs, on the final three days, will see the top eight teams compete in front of a live audience at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
- A star-studded lineup, including Gaimin Gladiators, Team Spirit, Team Falcons, and Team Liquid will be part of the battle for the first ESL One tournament of 2024.
- Tundra Esports will be looking to win on home turf, as the only organization from the UK competing at the tournament. As the only British player, Matthew “Ari” Walker will be looking to make a mark on home soil for OG.
- The competition will be streamed live from Birmingham ESL Dota 2 Twitch and YouTube channels and via dedicated broadcast partners.
Birmingham/Cologne/New York – ESL One powered by Intel® returns to Birmingham for the first time since 2019 from April 22 – 28. The Dota 2 tournament, of which the final three days will take place live from the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, will have the largest crowd during a Dota 2 event on European soil in five years.
Here is all you need to know about ESL One Birmingham 2024
Beginning April 22, 12 of the world’s best Dota 2 teams will descend on Birmingham, with the eight teams in the Playoffs battling it out in front of a live audience at the Resorts World Arena between April 26-28.
Amongst the contenders are Tundra Esport, the sole UK organisation at ESL One Birmingham, and OG star Matthew “Ari” Walker who will also be attempting to secure the trophy on home soil.
Returning to Birmingham for the first time since 2019, ESL One Birmingham features a total prize pool of $1,000,000. Furthermore, ever-valuable EPT points will be on offer, which could see more teams secure their spots at Riyadh Masters following BetBoom Team’s qualification earlier this year.
Set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this year, Riyadh Masters will take place at Esports World Cup (EWC). Spanning across multiple game titles and featuring the largest prize pool esports has ever seen, EWC showcases the best gaming and esports have to offer as the world’s top elite esports teams battle it out in their attempt to become the first Club World Champion.
Schedule and Format
Group Stage (April 22 – 24)
- Two single round-robin groups of six teams each
- All series consist of two games
- The top two teams from each group will advance to the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs
- The third and fourth-place teams from each group will advance to the Lower Bracket of the Playoffs
- The remaining teams are eliminated
Playoffs (April 26 – 28)
- The Playoffs will be played in a double-elimination bracket
- All matches (except the Grand Final) are best-of-three
- The Grand Final is best-of-five
