The world’s premier Dota 2 tournament series heads to BMW Park in April 2027, featuring a $1M prize pool and 16 elite global teams.
COLOGNE, GERMANY — ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), the leading esports and video game entertainment company, today announced that its flagship Dota 2 tournament series, ESL One, is coming to Munich, Germany, from April 4–11, 2027. Positioned as the premier midseason event and the crown jewel of the Dota 2 calendar, ESL One Munich 2027 will bring together 16 of the world’s most elite teams to battle for a massive $1M total winnings, the largest in the ESL Pro Tour season.
The main event will culminate live from April 9–11, 2027, inside BMW Park in Munich. Equipped with state-of-the-art interactive LED flooring, BMW Park will offer fan-first live audience engagement and an unprecedented, immersive spectator experience for thousands of live attendees and millions watching worldwide.
“ESL One has a long history of bringing the world’s best Dota 2 teams and fans together, and we’re excited to add Munich to that legacy,” said Tobias Fjellander, Senior Product Manager, Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group. “BMW Park gives us the opportunity to explore new ways of bringing Dota 2 to life through our event production, while continuing to deliver the level of competition and live experience that fans expect from ESL One. Following a fantastic ESL One Birmingham earlier this year, we’re looking forward to building on that momentum and welcome the community to Munich in 2027.”
Dr. Fabian Mehring, Bavarian State Minister for Digital Affairs: “In April 2027, Munich will become the beating heart of the global Dota 2 community. We’re thrilled to welcome ESL One and the world’s top teams to Bavaria! Esports is so much more than gaming. It’s about teamwork, strategy, split-second decisions and the passion to push your limits. It brings people together across borders, languages and cultures – united by the thrill of competition and the love of the game. As Germany’s leading games hub, Bavaria is proud to be part of this incredible community. We’re investing in the future of gaming, supporting esports clubs and major events, and creating a place where talent, technology and passion come together. Game on, Munich – let’s make it legendary!”
Dr. Christian Scharpf, Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development, City of Munich: “I am thrilled that ESL One Dota 2 is coming to Munich next year. This is esports at its best: world-class players competing live in front of an audience at the BMW Park. Munich brings together everything a premier gaming event needs: a thriving tech hub home to leading global corporations, and a sports venue with a rich and storied history. It is the ideal place for esports to bridge both worlds. We look forward to writing a new chapter in our modern sporting city and to welcoming passionate esports fans — cheering on their favorite teams live at the BMW Park or watching the action via livestream.”
