Twitch Extends Long-Running Partnership with ESL

Twitch, the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers, today announced it is renewing its multi-year partnership contract with ESL, the world’s largest esports company. The brands have worked closely together since 2011 with numerous esports viewership milestones set over the years.

Among the Twitch records set by ESL is attracting more than 1.3 million concurrent viewers on a single channel during a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event at ESL One Cologne 2015. Prior to that, ESL has set consecutive records with the Intel® Extreme Masters World Championship in Katowice. In 2014, it set a record with the largest concurrent viewership in the Western world across all games with a 643,000 peak viewership. Then in 2015, it boasted more than one million peak concurrent viewers across a single event. This sets the stage for an exciting broadcast when the 2016 IEM World Championship in Katowice airs on Twitch on March 4-6.

“The Twitch community continues to embrace ESL events, with the viewership numbers setting milestones year over year,” said Kevin Lin, COO, Twitch. “By renewing our long-running partnership with ESL, it reaffirms our commitment to both our community and this legacy brand in the esports space.”

“We are excited to continue bringing new esports content to Twitch, home to the largest live audience of esports fans.” said Ralf Reichert, CEO at ESL. “In 2016, ESL will once again deliver world’s most legendary esports moments, and we’re very happy to have Twitch on our side as the broadcasting partner.”
