Pantamera and DreamHack renew long standing partnership

Stockholm, June 13, 2024  DreamHack, the leading global gaming lifestyle festival, and Pantamera, Sweden’s leading recycling company, today announce the renewal of their ongoing partnership. Since 2018, Pantamera and DreamHack have collaborated to promote sustainability, recycling and community engagement amongst gaming and esports enthusiasts everywhere, and the duo’s renewal continues those efforts ahead of local festivals DreamHack Summer and DreamHack Stockholm this year.

DreamHack’s festivals have become a platform for Pantamera’s mission to drive a more sustainable society. Pantamera boasts the world’s most efficient deposit return system, through which customers purchasing certain cans or bottles pay a deposit that is returned when they return the packaging to be recycled. Pantamera has made significant environmental strides, processing over 2.7 billion beverage packages annually.

“We grind, gather and give back, but our commitment extends beyond numbers. It’s about safeguarding our environment for future generations, and for us, that begins at the community level,” said Lovisa Lannerstedt, Marketing Manager at Pantamera. “Pantamera has always been about encouraging people to do good and say thanks to those who do. What better place for that than DreamHack, where we get to meet young people who are great when it comes to consuming, but perhaps not always as good when it comes to recycling.”

Pantamera has been an official partner to DreamHack since 2018, but entered gaming and esports in 2011 when the company identified young men as a demographic that, despite their high consumption, tended to recycle less. In the subsequent 13 years, Pantamera has remained at the forefront of sustainability in gaming, from remaking classic music videos with esports stars to hosting international Counter-Strike tournaments funded by recycled cans and bottles.

Since 2016, Pantamera has worked to unite gamers and aid charities. With DreamHack joining in 2019, the partnership’s fundraising efforts have netted more than 2 million Swedish krona in donations over the years, and the target group of young men has increased their recycling by 7 percent.

“As we renew our partnership with Pantamera, we’re reminded of just how vital community involvement is when it comes to driving change on a broader level,” said Andreas Jernberg, Managing Director & VP Partnerships, ESL FACEIT Group/DreamHack. “We’re not just part of the gaming industry, together, we’re shaping a greener, more sustainable world for everyone.”

During this year’s DreamHack Summer and Stockholm events, Pantamera will host a booth with a range of engaging activities, including hosting viral gaming ambassador SampeV2. The YouTube creator will interact directly with fans in the Pantamera booth and challenge the crowd with Counter-Strike competitions on the Main Stage.

Deposit proceeds raised during Swedish DreamHack festivals will be pooled with fundraising efforts Pantamera drives around Musikhjälpen, a 12-hour livestream with Swedish charity radio marathon. During the livestream, which features a talk show format with famous guests, viewers can call in and donate money, or attempt to win unique actioned items such as collectibles, signed jerseys, and more.
