ESL, the world’s largest esports company and PUBG Corporation (PUBG Corp.), developer and publisher of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) have teamed up once again to bring the popular Battle Royale title to the world’s largest video games and gaming convention. The PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Charity Challenge – Presented by ESL and PUBG Corp. is set to take place at gamescom in Cologne, Germany on August 23-25, 2018 as 32 duo teams will complete in-game challenges to collect money for charity.
For the very first time in a competitive PUBG tournament, each of the participating duo teams will consist of an influencer, which is directly invited and one of the players, who fought its way up through the regional qualifiers. The open bracket online tournaments will kick off beginning of July on ESL Play in the regions UK (3 slots), Germany (4 slots), Turkey (2 slots), South-East Europe (2 slots), CIS (2 slots), Italy (2 slots), France (4 slots), Spain (3 slots), Nordics (4 slots), Poland (2 slots) and the rest of Europe (4 slots).
Over the course of three event days, a total of twelve matches will be played out in front of a live audience at the ESL Arena. Fans from all over the world have the chance to become an active part in the PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Charity Challenge – Presented by ESL and PUBG Corp. as the challenges will be chosen based on popularity votes via ESL PUBG on Twitter and Facebook. All matches will be broadcasted on the official ESL PUBG Twitch channel.

In August 2017, PUBG players and influencers competed in the gamescom PUBG Invitational, marking the very first offline invitational for PUBG. After the successful debut of the PUBG invitational at gamescom, the partnership continued by bringing PUBG to the mainstage at IEM Oakland in November 2017 and IEM Katowice in 2018 where more than $600,000 in prize money have been paid out. In addition, ESL is currently hosting up to 640 teams in the European Qualifiers tournament which is leading to the PUBG Global Invitational 2018 (PGI 2018), the biggest PUBG tournament to date.
