ESL One Hamburg will host Clash of Clans World Championship live on stage

Cologne – ESL, the world’s largest esports company, today announced that the Clash of Clans World Championship will be played on the main stage at the prestigious ESL One Hamburg powered by Intel®. Started in March earlier this year, the final rounds of the pre-qualifiers culminate in the playoffs of the Clash of Clans World Championship. The  tournament is to be held prior to the Dota 2 matches live on stage on each of the three main event days starting on October 25. It is already the third year in a row that Barclaycard Arena will once again be greeting players, talents and fans for a weekend full of Dota 2 action on October 25 – 27.

The Clash of Clans World Championship is a product of the partnership between ESL and Supercell, a Finnish mobile  game developer and maker of Clash of Clans. During the playoffs, six of the world’s best Clash of Clans (COC) teams plus two wildcard winners will have the chance to prove their skills on-stage and take home the lion’s share of the US$ 1 million prize pool. Teams had to previously qualify themselves by joining the competition in-game or via ESL Play. Furthermore, the two wildcard winners will be chosen by the COC community in advance.

“We at ESL envision that the passion for gaming bounds everybody together, regardless of platform, game or device. Mobile esports is by far not just a trend, but already shaping the industry noticeably”, states Ulrich Schulze, Senior Vice President of Product at ESL. “Mobile games have become an indispensable part of esports already and we are proud to support this new segment on all levels, from zero to hero.”
