ESL Premiership Rainbow Six® Siege announces return for the 2020 Spring Season on February 27th, and confirms Live Finals in Leicester for March 28th.
The UK and Ireland’s longest standing tournament is returning for its first season of 2020 with the hugely successful competitive title Rainbow Six® Siege. The Spring Season will see the introduction of a new broadcast schedule, teamed up with a returning prize pool of £20,000, creating the most competitive season yet.
The ESL Rainbow Six® Siege Premiership operates in order to create opportunities and experiences for homegrown talent to develop into world class players. The tournament has seen huge success, with players from all backgrounds becoming global competitors flying the flag for UK and Ireland esports. Previous national champions have gone on to participate, and dominate, at international tournaments, including the scene’s most prestigious event – the SIX INVITATIONAL – proving the tournament is the perfect testbed for aspiring pros.
The 2019 champions – Rainbow Six Pro League winners and three-time ESL Premiership Champions, Natus Vincere – will be stepping away from the Premiership in 2020, owing to other commitments, meaning that this season is guaranteed to see a new team become Premiership Champions!
The Spring Season Finals will be held in the tournament’s home city of Leicester, at De Montfort University’s The Venue on Saturday March 28th. Tickets are now on sale, priced at £8 for a full-day pass, with the doors opening at 10am to welcome fans from up and down the country.
Format
The first playday of the ESL Premiership Spring Season 2020 will be February 27th, with group stages consisting of a single round-robin format. The following three weeks will feature two playdays per week which will decide the first two Live Finalists. Once group stages have been completed this will lead into Playoffs, where the last two Live Finals spots will be secured on Saturday 21st March. The first season of 2020 will then finish on a high with the Live Finals on Saturday 28th March.
Teams
The ESL Premiership will see the return of inaugural PC champions Team Secret, MnM Gaming, Randy’s and Fierce Esports meaning that the stakes will be higher than ever before with the title up for grabs. Up-and-comers from Relegations Enclave Gaming, Burning Foxes GG and Audacity Esports also come into the fold and will be joined by the winner of the Open Qualifier final between DemiseGG and Squids.
