IEM New York 2020: Online provides last chance for North American and CIS region teams to secure their place at ESL’s CS:GO Major

The ESL Pro Tour tournament is the final installment of the Valve RMR series and is the last chance for American and CIS region teams to collect RMR status points ahead of November’s CS:GO Valve Major by ESL

The tournament will feature three divisions (North America, CIS region and Europe), each offering ESL Pro Tour points on the Road to the Masters Championship in Katowice 2021

Cologne, August 3rd, 2020: ESL, the world’s largest esports company, today revealed details for Intel® Extreme Masters New York 2020: Online which commences on October 6th and will see teams competing for a share of the US$250,000 prize. The ESL Pro Tour competition will feature three divisions – Europe, North America, CIS – and provides a last-gasp chance for North American and CIS teams to grab the final Regional Major Rankings (RMR) status points that could be crucial in their quest to qualify for November’s CS:GO Valve Major.

Teams from each of the three divisions will go head to head to continue collecting ESL Pro Tour Points on the Road to the Masters Championship in Katowice in 2021, while RMR points are awarded in the North American and CIS divisions as well. Five spaces for November’s Valve Major are up for grabs in each of the North American and CIS divisions respectively.

Some of the world’s biggest esports names including Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, Natus Vincere, 100 Thieves and many more are invited to compete for a share of the collective US$250,000 prize, in what is the 80th Intel® Extreme Masters tournament since 2006. 

“With the RMR race concluding with IEM New York Online for North America and CIS, there is so much at stake ahead of the ESL Major,” said Michal “Carmac” Blicharz, VP of Pro Gaming at ESL. “What makes the tournament one to look forward to is that it also affects the teams’ ESL Pro Tour standings.”
