PSYONIX SELECTS DREAMHACK AND ESL GAMING AS ROCKET LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ESPORTS PARTNER

The multi-year partnership grows on the initial DreamHack and Psyonix arrangement for 2020’s Rocket League Championship Series

Stockholm/Cologne/New York — DreamHack and ESL Gaming have today announced that they will become esports partners of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) in a multi-year agreement with Rocket League developer, Psyonix.

The new partnership builds upon last year’s initial Rocket League Championship Series X collaboration between DreamHack and Psyonix, in which DreamHack operated the entirety of the 2020-2021 season. The new multi-year partnership will see DreamHack and ESL Gaming collaborate to operate the competitions, produce the official broadcasts and support the return to live events after a very long gap, with the first Major of RLCS Season 2020-2021 to be hosted in Stockholm, Sweden, as a players-only event.

The collaboration between DreamHack and Psyonix stems back to 2017 when DreamHack initially entered into the Rocket League Esports space and hosted two large scale competitions at DreamHack Summer and Atlanta respectively. The launch of the DreamHack Pro Circuit followed in 2019, and now this next step sees DreamHack, ESL and Psyonix collaborating to create the best possible circuit for Rocket League esport fans and competitors around the world.

The partnership will leverage DreamHack and ESL’s position as global leaders in esports to help bring RLCS competitions to more regions than ever before, with new additions in Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Asia-Pacific North (APAC N), Asia-Pacific South (APAC S) and Sub-Saharan Africa regions. DreamHack and ESL will also support Psyonix in the commercialisation of the Rocket League Championship Series, both helping to bring new opportunities for brands to engage and partner in the Rocket League ecosystem, as well as bring in new media partners to expand the reach of the RLCS.

“Rocket League is one of the fastest growing properties in esports and we’re proud to partner with Psyonix to support its continued growth,” said Michael Van Driel, SVP, Game Management at ESL Gaming. “We’ve been big believers in Rocket League Esports since day one, and we are really excited to take the next steps in our collaboration with Psyonix to help create the highest possible quality of competition for fans and teams around the world.”

The RLCS 2021-22 Season kicked off in October. Make sure to check out the RLCS Fall Major,  the first RLCS LAN and cross regional competition in almost two years, happening at the ESL Stockholm Studios beginning December 8.
