DreamLeague S14 DPC EU and ESL One DPC CIS will Commence in January, Offering Points for Majors and The International
New Announcement Sees DH & ESL Host Two of The Six DPC Regions
STOCKHOLM/COLOGNE/NEW YORK — ESL Gaming, the world’s largest esports company, has today announced that it will host the all-new Dota Pro Circuit leagues ESL One DPC CIS powered by Intel® for the CIS region and the DreamLeague Season 14 DPC EU powered by Intel® for the European region. The DPC leagues will precede the Dota 2 Majors and The International 10, which will return following a year off in 2020.
Commencing on January 18th, the DPC leagues will occur online and will run for roughly six weeks with each region consisting of a full best of three Round Robin format. Each region’s league has an upper and lower division consisting of eight teams, and will have three competition days per week. The broadcasts of both regions will be produced out of Stockholm, Sweden, while the leagues will be localized in several languages, including Russian and Chinese, with more to be confirmed at a later date.
The direct invites to the Upper Division of the ESL One DPC CIS are Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, Team Spirit, and Live to Win. Directly invited to the Upper Division of the DreamLeague S14 DPC EU are OG, Team Secret, Team Liquid, and Team Nigma. A closed 8-team decider tournament starting January 8th will decide who will fill-up the Upper or qualify into the Lower Division. The final slots for the Lower Division will be determined by Open Qualifiers starting on January 5th.
DPC points will be awarded in the leagues and contribute towards qualification for The Majors and The International, meaning that teams will need to perform to their best level in the DPC leagues in order to progress across the season. Both the European and CIS region’s league will have a prize pool of $280,000.
From the six global DPC leagues, the 18 best performing teams will progress into the Majors, with then the best 12 teams from the Majors going on to compete in The International 2021.
Michael Van Driel, SVP Game Management at ESL Gaming, said: “Alongside the rest of the Dota 2 community, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit, we’re very excited to kick off the DPC season and provide some thrilling matches for fans to tune in for worldwide!”
